About Klymit Static V Inflatable Sleeping Pad - Prior Year Model

Closeouts. Unwind under the stars with Klymit's Static V inflatable sleeping pad. Just 10-15 breaths inflates it to full, and the body-mapped V-chamber design limits air movement to help maintain warmth, comfort and performance.

Unlike the prior review my comments would differ a bit. First, if you blow it up enough so when you sit up or put your elbow down it will be so hard it is uncomfortable when you lie on it -- or you will roll off it. You have to understand how blow up sleeping mats are intended to be used. Second,... Read More

Takes more to inflate but no big deal. Easy to deflate and get back in pack and weighs nothing. I found it more comfy to blow up all the way and then let just a little out. Overall, this is a good pad.

This isn't anything against the pad itself, but possibly the material on the bottom...I toss and turn in my sleep. The pad was extremely comfortable. It was very easy to unpack. about 15 breathes and it was aired up. I recommend airing it up when you get to camp first, then add a couple more breathes right before laying down, (hot air cools down and shrinks just a smidge). Packing up was really easy, there is definitely a trick to packing it just right to fit in the stuff sack. However the tent I had, and the sleeping pad, combination would cause the sleeping pad to slip underneath me. I'd wake up with half the pad up the wall of my tent and my shoulders on the edge. If it was possible to have a slightly more rubberised? (don't know if that explains it well enough) material, it be a perfect pad. Course that may just be a combination of what I have set up. (Two slick surfaces don't coheed)

I bought this for my brother. I haven’t slept on it but air mattresses are all basically the same unless they are the super thin self inflating ones. I use a Big Agnes insulated sleeping pad that I love except for the air channels. This pad seems to have a really smart air flow design. The channels move in many directions as apposed to left to right like my big Agnes. This allows for faster depletion of the air when packing out. This pad is long too.

I never tried any other camping pads in the past, but this sure beats the ground. Not too hard to slide back into their stuff sacks if you fold it so the green, shinier side is facing out. If you fold them up with the black side facing out, they never seem to slide into the stuff sack.

I bought it for my year around boy scout camping. It feels great and easy to store and carry. It takes about 20 blows instead of 15 blows the advertisement stated. The insulation rating is low, but I have no problem with it since I have a down sleeping bag.

    • Seek elsewhere if you need to rely on a pad for warmth. I would say it is a warm weather pad.

    • The R value for this pad is pretty low 1.3 -- it's not meant for cold nights unless you're car camping and plan to slip a couple of blankets underneath it. This pad is perfect for warmer weather trips as it's super light and packs extremely small (soda can sized). If you like this style however, Klymit has the Insulated Static V which ups the R value to 4.4, with the caveat of a larger size when packed and a bit more weight unless you opt for the lightweight or ultralight designs. Hope this helps!
