Not cold weather boots

Excited to try these -40 rated boots with 400g insulation. Seem to be well constructed, and waterproof. While they are at least a full inch too long (size 12), the width is about right. The fatal flaw for these boots is that the foot area has virtually no insulation; it's all in the ankle. (Who gets cold ankles??) Like all insulated boots, the temp ratings are a joke, but since these were rated to -40, I'd hoped these might be good to +20 or so. But these set a new standard for being misleading. They are good down to about +35 if I'm actively moving around and about +50 if I'm just sitting or standing. Strangely enough they REALLY fit my hard-to-fit feet well (but still getting used to the extra inch of length!) and are more comfortable than any of my other uninsulated boots so I'll be keeping them for cool/wet-weather walking/hiking/hunting.
