I ordered these boots for the snow. They were available in a light gray which I liked as a change from the common caramel colored tops and dark brown bottoms. When they arrived, I put on a pair of thick Wigwam winter socks (silk and wool), and tried on the boots. The right boot felt too small. It would not have felt small without the sock, but I can't think of any situation in which I would wear the boots without socks. The boots looked well-made, and I don't doubt they are warm and waterproof in the snow. I have been wearing a pair of Sorrell winter boots for the past decade, and I like the good tread on the boots. As I live in the mountains, tread is important when walking on slope. The Kodiak Kyra Pac Boots did not have good tread. Lack of good tread and the size problem resulted in returning these boots. Before writing this review, I searched "Sorel boot tread" and found many complaints about the tread on new Sorels. One reviewer mentioned the excellent tread on her old boots. It's hard to imagine that the Sorel company would abandon one of the most important features on their boots; tread. If I didn't live on a mountain with considerable slope, I might not be as concerned about tread. The Kodiak Kyra boots might be perfect for another customer - they are worth trying!
