These inexpensive poles feel agreeably tactile and ergonomic with their cork handles and reliably sturdy with lightweight, twist-lock aluminum shafts. No padding to wear out in the straps; just rugged nylon webbing. I think they'll be my hiking buddies for a long while. Maybe they're a few grams hea... Read More

  • Cork grip adjustable poles by Komperdell
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Frank the Hiker from Adirondacks NY on Thursday, November 30, 2017
This my first pair of trekking poles and I am very satisfied with them. I took them to the adirondacks and used them with about 40 pounds in my backpack. They help to stabilize any uneven terrain and helped me a bit as i ascended my trails. Very satisfied and the price was only 49.99. Happy with the price and service at sierra trading post.

I just spent a week in the White Mountains using these poles and I cannot say enough good things about them! I've never hiked with poles before, so some of this praise is more about the product category than this specific item. I'm in my late 40s and I really was surprised by how poles help ease the strain on one's knees and legs. I found the poles especially helpful in maintaining balance as my backpack "sail" blew around Mt. Washington and Mt. Eisenhower. The Komperdell cork handles are fabulous to grip (I would have loathed a plastic handle in that wet environment) and the fully extended poles worked well for my 6' 6" frame. I highly recommend this product.
  • they work

i have been hiking the sierras with these for two years now. they also work well as tent poles. spoke with an Austrian near Shower Lake who did not know Komperdell was still around. i bought these for the cork handles - i have no noticed them conforming to the shape of my hand. seem pretty solid. if you cinch the poles down correctly they do not slip.

  • Nice item but ...

The trekking poles are lightweight, durable, and comfortable to use. I marked them down due to not receiving one of the trekking baskets and the fact that one of the straps was twisted. Without these issues, neither which reduces the poles utility for me, I would rate a five.

  • “Is there a different basket for using snow shoeing ?”
Asked by KJ from Portland on 12/6/2017 11:51:02 AM
Answered on 12/6/2017 1:48:00 PM by bill from folsom, ca
    • Komperdell does make a winter basket designed for snow. We do not currently carry it separately.
Answered on 12/7/2017 8:12:23 AM by Product Specialist from Sierra Trading Post
    • Yes there is a different basket for snow trekking and Sierra trading Post sells it because I bought a pair from them when I bought their Komperdell Hiker Cork Adjustable Poles. I am happy with the poles.

  • “Do I need to buy tips for these? Never used sticks before and buying these as a gift for my son. Is there anything else I need with these?”
Asked by SusieQ from Illinois on 11/16/2017 12:50:47 PM
    • That depends on the intended purpose for the poles. If they are for outdoor/hiking type use then nothing else is needed. If they will be used indoors, or for use on pavement/cement or similar things then you would want to purchase the rubber walking tips, item # 99611.

  • “I can't seem to remove the tips covers. Are they supposed to be hard to remove? Can I leave them on until they wear out? Thanks.”
Asked by Helgie from Colorado on 11/14/2017 6:52:33 PM
    • They are designed to be tight so as to now fall off in transit. They are not designed with traction in mind, so if you do leave them on it could be a hazard.
Answered on 11/15/2017 10:04:12 AM by Product Specialist from Sierra Trading Post
    • Yes, they are hard to remove, but they do come off. I used a pair of pliers to remove mine. I would not recommend leaving them on, as that would defeat the purpose of carbide tips.

  • “Could someone be so kind as to tell me how to put these together? Are you supposed to pull off all the black tips on all the pieces? I can't tell if they are just for packing, or if they are supposed to be there, and there are no instructions. Thank you.”
Asked by Michael the hiker from California on 7/19/2017 5:44:05 PM
    • I think part of the problem is that one of the center poles is missing, and the other one "slips", and won't lock. Hopefully they'll send me a replacement in time for my son's Boy Scout wilderness camp.
