Climb Walls, Walk Ceilings

The original leather bindings on my Faber 14x48 wood Hurons broke in 2010. I will never give up those shoes but live in a steeper, icier climate now, so I ordered the Komperdells for winter 2012. Due to snow drought, I was not able to use them until this past week. I can't speak for their longevity at this early date but can say I am in love with them. Took three tries to figure out how the bindings work since no instructions are included, which was frustrating, but now that I figured them out, they are fabulous--easy to cinch and never slip. Crampons are incredible. I could ice climb in these shoes, practically do on the rivers I've shoed so far. Being smaller than my old wooden Hurons, they lack the buoyancy so you sink a lot further but still I'm able to run easily on semi-packed trails, still can almost jog even in knee-deep snow. They're keepers!
