The cold weather and high altitude ability of the Spider appealed to us so I bought one for myself and tried it out on a short weekend trip. It performed so well we bought 2 for the Troop for our backpacking trips and high adventure treks. Performed flawlessly!

Sometimes needs 10+ sparks before it will catch. Also hasn’t worked well in the cold. I tried boiling water at 5000ft at 5 degrees and stove really struggled.

I love the ladle and how compact the whole set it. I gave it as a Christmas gift so I haven't herd how it performed. But I noticed the coating was already showing damage just from shipping (all pieces were wrapped in plastic), but I imagine more damage with come just from knocking against all the other items while hiking.
