I got this pack so my Great Dane can pack her own food and water when I go backpacking. I've tried other pack configurations and I believe this one is the best. Good fit and a well made pack.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Dog & Pony Show from Idaho on Monday, August 25, 2014The pack is really nice and fit my 100# Anatolian Shepard perfectly. Cleans up well and was big enough to carry all his supplies. The pack rode nice, no issues with sliding back/forward, or side to side for that matter. This pack design is much better than their old design. It also seems to repel water better than their old packs. My Anatolian went down in a creek and I thought for sure his food would be mush, but everything stayed dry....for the most part. I would not have had this luck with the old pack. I love the new breast collar design (strap across the chest & through the front legs) vs the old one strap across the chest/neck, however it's a bit cumbersome getting it on and off. A snap between the legs would work much better. Instead you have to feed the girth strap through the breast collar strap.....it's kind of a pain. A simple snap there would alleviate this slight irritation. Overall though I love the pack and would buy another, especially at the great price that I got for it.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Poligirl from PDX on Saturday, August 9, 2014This is a well-made, sturdy backpack. I have a 90lb Newfoundland, and the XL fit fine. It's easy to get it in place on the dog, and the zippers are well-placed. The one thing that I don't like is that it slides around the dog's back, even when empty and properly secured. Maybe a less slippery fabric could've been sewn on the back to reduce the slipperiness.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Red Headed Mountain Girl from South Carolina on Tuesday, June 24, 2014We haven't hit the trails with it yet, just letting Maggie get used to it first and so far no problems. She seems comfortable in it and it doesn't seem to rub anywhere. I'm a little concerned that the strap across the belly may rub on a long trip. There is no padding so the strap itself is hitting where she has little fur. I am going to add a simple patch of moleskin on the strap just to be safe. The side pockets are just right- food, treats, collapsible bowls and rope. It detaches from the harness with one clip and is Velcro-ed which works well, but could be a pain putting it back on if your dog is hyper. I used the sizing guide and the XL fit just right. Overall it is a very nice pack.
