4x4 mud-n bootsReviewed by mr.G from the south on Friday, September 29, 2017after a traumatic accident i was left with 1 plate, 3 screws and a permanent foot drop in my left foot . i use a cane and after a couple of painful falls last year it was time for a change .
my AFO brace will not fit in my winter boots, also needed some good mud boots with traction and ankle support .
this is my 2nd pair of la sportiva (1st thunder lll) . ordered boots last month to start the break in period for the fall and winter months .
i ordered the same size as my tennis shoe, perfect fit with tube socks . left foot is larger than right, put thicker insert in right boot, easy fix . for hikers i'd probably go up .5 for thicker socks .
sierra trading post was very helpful , i ordered 3 pair and returned 1 . no hassle, fast shipping and best deals .
hiking and ice are off limits for me, so i gave the boots 4 stars to be fair .
So far so goodVerified Buyer Reviewed by Mike the hiker from Nj on Saturday, February 18, 2017So far, the boots are holding up well. They provide good ankle support and are able to handle hours of trudging through the snow.

“this product is euro-size, i need a size 9-Mens what size should i order for equivalent?”
according to STP's chart euro 42 = US mens 9 . in NB and asics i wear US 13/47 euro . this pair fits a little larger than my thunder lll . i order 3 pair in different sizes, sent 1 pair back . returns cost $3, but that was at $119 . at $79 its a great deal, i love these boots ! great for cold, rainy and muddy days down in the south .
most reviews ive read will tell you order .5 up for thick hiking socks . i don't hike and left foot is larger than right . put a larger insert in right for easy fix . google "euro men's shoe size conversion chart" . hope this helps .
“Will these work well with crampons? ”
These are not specifically listed as crampon compatible.
“I am a certified arborist based out of Texas and we commonly use hiking boots to climb trees. My question is are they bad boots to have in the summertime? I would be wearing them 8-12 hours a day in 100 degree weather”
These are insulated, so they might not be the most comfortable in 100 degree weather.
