Even Better than Expected!

The Valhalla PrimaLoft jacket is even better than I expected! It is very light for a PrimaLoft: the insulation is 20 gram, which is as low as I have seen. (For reference, an average PrimaLoft is 60 grams, and a heavy belay parka would be 180-200 grams.) The side panels have no insulation – just a thicker nylon panel. So it's not that warm, which is what I wanted, since I don't overheat this way. For a lighter insulating layer that is not fleece, it is perfect, and paired with a shell, it traps heat well. The pockets are awesome! Three external: two fleece-lined hand pockets and a chest pocket (it's a little small). Inside, there are two more zippered pockets, one small with headphone hole, and one larger. There's also an internal goggle pocket. The fit is spot-on: I am a medium in just about everything and the La Sportiva medium fit perfectly. There is full range of motion in the arms. There is no hood. The hem has a cinch cord. Cuffs are smaller elastic band, like you'd expect. Overall I am very happy with this jacket and wish they had more in my size so I could get another! I now own several La Sportiva clothes and have been very pleased with their quality, utility, and value.
