Lamson quality

Another nice Lamson product, however it gets 4 stars instead of 5 because the drag knob is poorly designed so that you have to put quite a bit of pressure on the other side of the reel with the other hand in order to keep contact with the knob and turn it. I suspect this design oversight is why Lamson discontinued this particular model. Now onto the good stuff....large arbor design and the sealed quality of their drag system. On a 5 weight rod I don't fuss with the drag too often so it is not a deal breaker. I bought a #1 and #2 for my 3 weight and 5 weight rods and have used the 5 weight on a new Sage VPX 9' and like it. I have yet to use my #1 on the new Ross FC 3 weight rod. Will try to remember to update my review when I have some time with it when the flows subside and I summer fish some smaller streams.
When you can buy them for around $110 they are quite reasonable and should last a lifetime. I don't think I'd buy one for an 8 weight that I would fuss with the drag more with large fish, but just my thoughts.
