This Konic reel has the same drag system as their $300+ reels. Can't beat the quality and performance at this price.

I took this reel out to Panguitch Lake, Utah to break it in proper. I tested it on huge Rainbows, monster Cuthroats, and some fat Tiger's (Trout). The Lamson Konic 2 is a true performer... I took and released 25 fish (3-6 lb class) with this reel. I set the drag tension to the tippet strength, and kept it the same position for the entire time I fished. There wasn't so much as a hiccup. I truly enjoy fishing this reel, and won't be looking for a new one for a long time.

    • Pros: Consistent, Durable, Easy Spool Removal, Light Weight, Powerful, Retrieves Line Quickly, Sleek design, Smooth Drag No Jerking, Sturdy

The Lamson Konic 2 reel should last a good long time, even with 160+ fishing days per year. All I need now are a couple of spare spools for my sink-tip streamer shooter line, and my fast sink line.
    • Pros: Good drag, Large Arbor Spool, Solid Construction

About Lamson

When Lamson designers and engineers set about to revolutionize fly fishing reels, they threw out the existing assumptions and started from scratch. Beginning with a blank piece of paper, they re-designed, re-thought, and re-tooled fly fishing reels to achieve a crucial balance and optimal performance. Lighter materials like titanium and polymers took the place of steel, wood and cork. Simplified designs meant fewer components, lighter weight and amazing longevity. Along the way, Lamson shaved so much weight from the reel that larger, better-retrieving arbors were incorporated into the design. They topped off their list of impressive advancements with a high performance, conical polymer alloy drag system. The result? Precisely machined fly fishing reels constructed from space age materials that are so light, they seem to defy gravity.
