Super - ordered as a replacement for old coat as was way too large - This one fits/feels great, with zip in lining (1/2 wool) is very comfortable. Really got a great deal and looking forward to next rain to try it out.

A nice basic overcoat. Like everything about it. What is unusual, verses others I have tried on in stores, is that the body is large enough, without the sleeves being too long. (The body is really 44-45" in the size L, and the sleeves about 34", whereas most manufacturers are going with the slim cut these days, even in overcoats.) Some reviewers either disliked the main pockets having a slit thru the lining to get to pants pockets. I find it is not a problem, as you have to deliberately snake your hand around the folds to get thru the lining, i.e., unlikely to ever drop something thru that slot by mistake. Jacket has one side entry interior pocket, and the lining has one large patch pocket - both on the left side. Belt has an extra inner strip, with button fastener, to keep the belt attached to one of the two loops. Buckle appears to be real leather covered.

this is truly a very fine garment but I was expecting a bit more warmth. Maybe I am comparing it to my last similar coat which was toasty warm (I live in SE Michigan) but, that is the one area in which it fell short. Oh well, I wear a sweater.

Good basic trench for use over a suit for business days.

  • “Could you please tell me whether the raincoat has an inside chest pocket, and what the armpit-armpit measurement is for chest size 40 and 42?

    Many thanks”
Asked by Query from England on 1/13/2014 8:54:46 AM
    • There is an inside chest pocket on the left side. Size 40 armpit to armpit is 21". Size 42 armpit to armpit is 22".

  • “How is size determined for rain/trench coats? I plan to wear a suit jacket or blazer under this, so let's say I wear a 42L in suit jacket (for shirts I am 16" neck and 33/34" sleeves). Would I order a 42R or 42L? Or do I have to size up to a 44 so I can fit my blazer under this?”
Asked by RO from Massachusetts on 4/20/2013 2:35:03 PM
    • You would order the same size your wear in a suit jacket. Order the 42, the coat is cut to take in account that it is going to be worn over a jacket.

  • “Does this coat have just one button at the top or are there inside buttons for closure up the front?”
Asked by Anonymous from Unknown on 10/30/2011 12:00:00 AM
    • There are five buttons from top to bottom. The buttons are hidden from view when the coat is buttoned up.

  • “My suit size is 42 short. What size coat do I order?”
Asked by Rick in Fla from Unknown on 11/2/2010 12:00:00 AM
    • We have a size 44 left and you would need the short. It is the chest measurement, so you would want to check that and most likely will work to fit over clothes.

About Lauren by Ralph Lauren

Born and raised in the Bronx, Ralph Lauren began to cultivate an appreciation for men’s fashion at an early age. After spending two years in the army, he soon secured a job for Brooks Brothers. By the age of 26, he had begun making his own ties using repurposed fabric, selling his wares to small shops and boutiques. After securing a backer in 1967, Ralph Lauren opened his first store, which quickly grew into a full-fledged fashion label. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, Lauren by Ralph Lauren suits are still synonymous with impeccable, modern style and Lauren by Ralph Lauren dresses remain on the cutting edge of fashion.
