SmoothReviewed by Melrose from MI on Wednesday, June 27, 2018Sizing is true to fitted (as it is described NTS- next to skin) but I might say the sizes run slightly small. I am a medium through all my clothing for tops. I read some of the reviews and decided to order a M and a L. I am glad I did. I am sticking with the L. It is still fitted without pulling too much in any 1 area. I am a 34 DDD, 5'3", 145 lbs. As for the feel, it is smooth. That's how I would describe it. I think the texture might be softer once I wash it. I have very sensitive skin and do not think this will be an issue for me. I will be wearing this shirt for hiking.
Love These ShirtsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Northwest Gardener from Seatle on Tuesday, June 12, 2018I live in the Pacific Northwest and wear these shirts year round except for the warmest summer days. The material is light weight and virtually invisible under a blouse or sweater. I buy one or two every year so as they wear out or the dog eats them I always have a couple in my closet. They wash really well too.
Fantastic hiking t-shirtReviewed by Ragan M from Seattle WA on Monday, May 21, 2018I have this shirt in the teal color (which they no longer have) and just came back to buy it in green. Since I bought the teal shirt, I have literally worn it every single time I've gone on a hike. I need it in a different color just so that not all of my pictures are the same.
I wore it on vacation to both Texas and California for 6-7 mile hikes in each place. It's soft to the skin and cool in the heat. I hand washed it and it dried quickly. I have machine washed it with no trouble. It is my very favorite hiking shirt I've ever had.
I wear size 14 usually and found the large to be fitted but not overly tight. I didn't really want a loose fit so I'm fine with that.
nice fitVerified Buyer Reviewed by Kate from northern Illinois on Monday, April 23, 2018Love this shirt, bought it in desert purple and capri. I wear a 14 and the large is a perfect fit. Form fitting without being too tight. I wanted this as a base layer under flannel shirts and it's perfect. Could also wear just as a t-shirt. It's opague, not sheer, so can wear on it's own. I like that it's 100% merino wool.
Great material, runs smallVerified Buyer Reviewed by Elizabeth the Runner from Minnesota on Sunday, April 22, 2018Gradually, with the help of Sierra Trading post, replacing my cotton tee's with merino wool. Merino is a near miracle type fabric, keeps you cool in hot weather, keeps you warm in cold weather. My favorite use for a merino base layer is under a microfleece in the depth of a Minnesota winter, breatheable, comfortable, feels great against the skin and *never* retains body odor. This shirt is very lightweight, nearly see through, wouldn't recommend wearing with a dark bra, stitching and construction is excellent, got this in 2 colors the green and purple which are lovely and cheerful. Problem is compared with all the other merino wool tee's I've purchased these run considerably smaller. In fact, so tight to the body that I'll not be able to wear alone. I know this is described by SmartWool as "next to skin" but this really does run small. Consider getting one size up unless you like skin tight.
Perfect LengthVerified Buyer Reviewed by Honestly Now from California on Wednesday, April 18, 2018I'm 5'4", small on top, thick on bottom & a minuscule waist (think Jerri Blank from Strangers with Candy). These shirts are a dream bc the length is true mid-hip. The current boxy, at-hip trend is tragically unflattering on me, so I was thrilled that these fit as pictured on the model. I've had some hit-or-miss experiences with IceBreaker and Woolx brands on the fit, but Smartwool and Ibex always seem to come through with the most consistent sizing.
The listing says that some shirts are 100% merino, and others may be 98% merino, 2% nylon. The three colors I got all said 100% merino on the tag: clover (green), bright pink & desert purple. They seem to hold up well in the wash and the microweight is perfect for those weird days when it's chilly in the morning but is supposed to be hot in the afternoon. And like all good merino, there is *no sweat smell*! Brilliant fabric, totally worth the cost. I consider these "investment t-shirts" more than anything sold by James Perse or Everlane or anywhere else.
great qualityVerified Buyer Reviewed by kambria from marin ca on Saturday, April 14, 2018this shirt worked great for my recent camping trip. comfortable, breathe-able, and durable.
SmartWool Microweight Base layer, wmnVerified Buyer Reviewed by Smee from Wisconsin on Saturday, April 7, 2018I liked this base layer so well that I ordered it in 2 colors, emerald green & aquamarine. I wear an 8-10 and ordered the medium. It is a slim fit. I am 5'9" tall with a long torso. The body length extends past my hip bones. The sleeves are about halfway between my shoulder and elbow. It is a microweight so may need a camisole underneath if it will be worn alone. I recommend this shirt.
SmartWool NTS Microweight Base LayerVerified Buyer Reviewed by Smee from Wisconsin on Monday, April 2, 2018The merino wool shirt is as described. Very lightweight so may have to wear a camisole underneath. I do wear wool all year round so this will be a good weight. I wear a medium or 8-10 and ordered the same. Fit is close. I like the bit longer, not cap style, short sleeve so the sleeves come to about the middle of the upper arm. The color is as depicted. Ordered the blue color first then ordered the green as well. I recommend this shirt.
Smart Wool Base LayerVerified Buyer Reviewed by Susie Skier from East Berlin, PA on Saturday, February 27, 2016Very pretty fuchsia color....actuates small shoulders and FITS. Comfortable. Has a very long bottom which works well under a zippered top. No scratchiness to me. Very happy to have it.
