We have only had these (we bought 3 because of the price), a couple of weeks, but so far they dogs are content with them.

The cover is definitely removable without much effort for easy wash. The cover fabric is actual denim - perhaps slightly lighter weight than heavy duty work jeans but nice fabric. Nice cushion.
