Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Still good after al these yearsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Cookware Queen from Henderson Nv on Sunday, March 18, 2018Excellent product however, the skillet does not come with "helper handle" as shown ST should correct photograph! Thats why I only gave it four stars, but as far as Lodge cast iron is concerned the skillet can't be beat.....The 9 inch skillet does not come w/helper handle according to Lodge website still I highly recommend....
Good quality pan but not as picturedVerified Buyer Reviewed by Donna from California on Saturday, March 17, 2018This cast iron pan appears to be good quality and is the only brand of cast iron pan offered made in the USA. However, the pan is surprisingly small has a very small cooking surface and does NOT include the hand lifter on the opposite end of the handle as indicated in the picture. You can only fit one small piece of meat, chicken or fish in the pan and you could definitely not fit a cowboy steak or a t-bone steak. If you tried to cook for two or more guests with multiple pieces of meat, it creates too much moisture and defeats the purpose of creating a good crust from using a cast iron pan. This pan only works for one person who intends to cook a small piece of meat.
Skillet Throwing ContestVerified Buyer Reviewed by New Englander Outsider from Connecticut on Tuesday, November 21, 2017Ha! I compete in the annual skillet throwing contest at the Harwinton Agricultural Fair every year. Going to practice to go after the big prize but need to throw it 70 feet for that. Beware of stones in the field that might crack it! I'm sure it cooks nice and evenly for bacon and eggs too!
Lodge cast iron--made in US, durable, high quality and so practical (but no helper handle)...Verified Buyer Reviewed by Gloria from Southern California on Thursday, November 16, 2017I have a lot of Lodge cast iron, including skillets in quite a few different sizes. I really did not need another skillet, as I have the 8" and 10" sizes, but I liked the idea of the helper handle. I was a bit disappointed when this arrived that it does not in fact feature the helper handle shown in the product image. I suppose I should have looked at the other pictures and read the description more thoroughly, but I do think the picture is misleading. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5...
I still like the pan a lot, and I have ended up using it more frequently than I thought I would--it is a nice size when I am not cooking for the whole family but the food is a bit too crowded in my smaller 8" pan. (The stated size of these pans is the outer diameter of the rim, not the actual cooking surface). I do think this is a great price for a pan that is already a great deal at the regular listed price, and is practically a steal at STP's discounted price--it will literally last for the rest of my life and will likely be passed down to my grandchildren...
