3.0 out of 5 stars. You get what you pay forReviewed by Mother of 3 from Midwest on Saturday, January 10, 2015I do like that these supposedly have higher content of wool and silk, and they they go up over my calves. However, they are really shabby quality. I could tell right away that they were seconds, one of them had a small run in it after wearing it a few hours. I ordered two sets of these so four pairs total. Already 3 of those socks have either a hole or a run and not actually on the soles. I have worn them in a rotation with several pairs of socks for a month and a half, so each pair has been worn 2-3 times maybe. who knows how the soles will hold up over more time.
As a side note, this fall/winter I stocked up on merino wool socks for my whole family. I bought a few different brands, including lorpen, smart wool, point 6, keen, and maybe another, i can't remember. but i did buy several styles (5-6) of lorpen because they are always the best deal, especially as 2-packs. well, now i see that you get what you pay for. i got my husband some green hunting over the calf socks and after wearing them twice, quarter sized patches were just falling out of the sole. i ordered 3 sets of 2 pairs black "work" socks, because they were advertised with a high % of merino wool, and when i got them, 1 of the pairs' labels had the correct merino wool content and the other two sets' labels said it was much smaller wool % and a very high acrylic percentage. ??? i didn't want to mess with returns so i just gave them to a friend. but i can tell from wearing them they are also thin and a little scratchy, don't keep their shape, and are not that great a quality. although i will say one of the "sports" style thin mid-calf (merino wool) socks i got my husband from lorpen seem much better, and the kinds i got my kids are okay so far. but i have only had all of these pairs for 1-3 months so that is to be expected that they are holding up okay, the ones that already are not seem to be very low quality.
so, buyer beware. you may be better off spending more on a better brand. good luck. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. Def "Seconds" Quality, and Thin, but Great for the PriceReviewed by Mother of 3 from Mid-Mo on Tuesday, November 4, 2014I got these because they were a steal of a deal for 75% merino wool-silk blend. I appreciate the higher percentage of natural fibers. However, I will say that these appeared to me to obviously be "seconds" with minor imperfections, like the way the knitting lined up in some places was mismatched- at first I thought there was as snag (hole), but it is just they are somewhat not the highest quality manufactured.
Also they are somewhat thin, which was actually preferred for me as I like to layer them and also wear them under slim fitting tall boots where bulky socks would not do. But if you are wearing them for X-country skiing, you may be disappointed. So far, I think they are pretty warm and I did wear them overnight camping when it was about 40 degrees out and my toes were plenty toasty! I think for longer periods in the outdoors, like over an hour, as winter comes along and temps really drop, I would layer them- but if you are only walking outdoors for 5 or 10 minutes in the winter i think they would be fine- and also not stifling when you come indoors. I like that they go over my calf, giving me extra warmth but not making me sweat when i am indoors most of the day.
I wear a 6.5 and the small fit perfectly. Probably would not fit much larger than a 7 though. My kids really liked them and my daughter who wears a size 1 was able to wear them, too. So if you have a child who wears size 1 or up, these would work for them, too. -

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great socksVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Petaluma, Ca on Tuesday, October 14, 2014Having silk in these wool socks should make them last longer. They are also lighter than the Lorpen wool socks. Haven't actually worn them yet.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Merino-silk socksVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Washington on Sunday, September 28, 2014I think they're a good sturdy sock. However, when I saw the word "silk", I thought, "Soft, smooth." I thought wrong. For me these socks are a little too rough. However, they might be very good for another person. I'll probably give them away. At least they weren't super expensive.
