The Lowe Frozen Sun has become an instant favorite. I already have "puff ball" and "micro puff" jackets from Patagonia, Outdoor Research and Mountain Hardware but this Winter and Spring the Frozen Sun is the jacket that keeps getting stuffed into my pack. While the Frozen Sun does not pack down as small as a typical "micro puff" I think that is due to the use of heavier (i.e. more durable and warm) weight materials, zippers, bigger pockets and excellent hood with brim. The hood and pockets are excellent in design and function. The pockets are well placed and large enough to comfortably stash gloves, a hat, I pod and a pair of glasses. The Frozen Sun liner wicks well and the asymmetric cuff design is excellent and works well with gloves when skiing. I have used the Frozen Sun with just a lightweight Capilene shirt in low 20 degree weather with 20 to 30 mph winds. In colder weather a shell easily extends the range to low single digits. I have not worn the Frozen Sun in the rain but, I have managed to get it wet from sitting in the bottom of my pack in in wet snow and it dried quickly from body heat. The finish and materials are high quality and based on my experience to date I predict the Frozen Sun will be durable for many years. I am 5'11" and 162 pounds and the Large fits great with room for layering. The arms run long but are easily adjustable with the hook and loop system. As with all Lowe products, the European sizing seems to run somewhat smaller than the typical US equivalent. Overall, I highly recommend the Frozen Sun as a useful piece of kit for all mountain use.
