5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice and tight.

Since so much about the about the actual performance of climbing shoes is subjective, I'm only going to comment about fit. I like my shoes *tight*. I like them so tight that I have to pull them off between indoor routes. My foot is a bit wide, and I wear a size 9 street shoe with an average arch. After some research I bought the 8.5's on a coin toss since I did not have the opportunity to try some on beforehand, but the price was too good to pass up. I was concerned the shoes may not be tight enough for my tastes, but they were as tight as I could stand... perfect. It took about an hour of wear time (lots of on & off) before I could stand in them without pain for any length of time. So, even with the hemp liner and rubber toe, they still stretch a bit. The heel is the only thing I'm worried about. Haven't had a chance to do any heel hooks yet, but it feels like the heel could shift a bit no matter how tight I adjust the straps. Build quality is fantastic and it looks like the uppers will last quite awhile. So, for anyone who doesn't like to grimace as they put their shoes on... buy your street size. They will still be very uncomfortable, but after all... these aren't jogging shoes. ;-)

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Some odd choices
Reviewed by Chris from Oregon on Wednesday, August 29, 2018
So I picked up a pair of these for an all-around gym lapping shoe. I wear a size 13 street shoe, and got the 12.5.

The fit is very nearly perfect for what I was after. It's a decent, flat, climbing shoe. The quality is fine, the rubber is fine, the liner is good. That said, the decision to cover the small toes in heavy rubber is just bizarre to me. The shoe is close to a perfect fit, but I can't wear it comfortably when those small toes flex. Volume seems fine while I'm sitting, but once activity starts, it's just not good even their dedicated bouldering shoe the Shark 2.0 gives the small toes some flex room up top.

For $39 it's worth trying to take a seam ripper to that little piece and see if I can't make something great out of this shoe. I also know that subsequent Mugen Techs and the M5 don't have that much rubber there, so this is a problem that's been fixed.
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. Size way off

I got the size 10's for my boyfriend who wears an 8.5 normal shoe. He couldn't even get his foot in them. I wear a women's size 6, so I tried these and they were too big. They'd probably fit a woman's 7.5 to 8. I couldn't even begin to guess what men's size this really is.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Good but don't last
Reviewed by Justin Jug from Burlington on Friday, February 27, 2015
I have had these shoes since the middle of October. I ordered the size I wear in normal everyday shoes (11|44.5) and they felt really tight and took about 2 weeks to break in (I climb 3 times a week). Now it is the end of February and they have two small holes in the front, not large enough to throw away but large enough where I can feel the wall with my big toe. They are great shoes really comfortable once broken in but they didn't even last a year.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Seem like nice shoes - pretty small

I like these shoes. Too bad STP doensn't have my size. I normally wear a 9.5 (the climbing shoe size I use when I rent at the gym, and my street shoe size) and ordered that; it was WAY too small. I then ordered a 10.5 and still, way too small. Since they don't have any larger options, I'm returning them but I would have liked to own these.

Nice shoes! Buy 1 size larger than you usually wear - they run small.
