Great bag. I had an old North Face bag from the 80's (original bags) and needed an upgrade. Got the long size which fits me perfect at 6'0 with some wiggle room.

The facial opening on this bag is well designed. It keeps the cold drafts out without cinching the drawcord up really tight as in a... Read More

Overall, this is a very nice sleeping bag. Well made and nice looking. I bought it for car camping, so didn't care how small it packed. I gave it a field trial on an elk hunt October 4. We camped in the Ashley National Forest in the High Uintas of Northeastern Utah. We set up a fairly low altitude base camp, but the overnight temp dropped down to just around 32. I tried to sleep wearing my base layer, a long sleep T-Shirt and two paris of socks (one pair of tall, thick hiking socks and one pair of tall Wigwam wool socks) during night. I used no bag liner. After a couple of hours, I honestly could not feel my feet they were so cold. I got very little sleep that night. Needless to stay, I cancelled the second night of my planned stay. I didn't have any of the previously mentioned zipper issues. I am debating whether or not to keep or return it. It would be a good summer/spring bag for the mountains. The temperature rating on my bag was definitely wrong! I would not recommend using it during late fall or winter if there is a chance of encountering low temps.

I purchased this for my son to use. He is 6'4" tall. I was pleased to see the length of this bag. He has not tried it out yet so I can't comment on how roomy it is for a 6'4" male, but as his 5'5" Mom who "tried it on" to see if it was warm and comfy I can say I would love to have it for myself. Was very light, very warm and plenty roomy for me. I was careful to keep the fabric flap away from the zipper when closing the bag and had no problems with it catching. Also had no problems getting it into the stuff sack. Nice bag for the price!

I haven't used this yet but plan to on a motorcycle camping trip this May. I did get inside of it when I received it and was amazed at how warm it got so quickly. I might try it out during spring break while the weather is still pretty cool. Although STP's description says it is nylon, it is actually polyester inside and out. That was my only complaint and I did report this to them. They offered to refund my money if I wasn't happy, but I really got a good deal on it and it is better made than any bag I've owned before, so I decided to keep it.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
