Verified Buyer Reviewed by klkks from Montana on Sunday, May 11, 2014I bought this Marmot Hydrogen bag based on the recommendation of a friend who uses one. I have used a Marmot Couloir for about 7 years and really liked it as a zero bag but needed a summer bag. The Hydrogen will be a good fit for alpine summer backpacking. I used it for the first time this past weekend, albeit in the back of my pickup. I stayed warm all night wearing just a long sleeve IceBreaker shirt and boxer briefs on the bottom. The air temperature was just under 40 degrees. I think this bag is going to do the trick for summer hiking - and the good part is that it is very light weight.
My only complaint about today's down sleeping bags is that there is minimal down on the bag bottom (supposed to get your back warmth from the pad). But as I roll to my side the less insulated bag bottom rolls with me and my back gets cold. There are sleeping bag brands that have sleeves to contain the pad and prevent the bag roll as the sleeper turns over. I thought about getting one of those but the Sierra Trading Post price on the Hydrogen was too good to pass up.
I am considering adding some wide rip-stop straps to the back of my Couloir and Hydrogen to contain the pad similar to what BA does with their bag system.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by gman80918 from colorado on Wednesday, April 9, 2014This was a gift for my son to replace his older 20 degree synthetic bag. . We have been picking up some lighter backping gear here and there and ran across this down sleeping bag. It is light, compact and the typical high quality Marmot product that I have come to expect. Marmot is one of my favorite brands and this bag does not dissapoint. Smooth zipper and roomy. We still need to take it out and that will happen later this month.
