Unless you like a really roomy and loose fit, Marmot's insulated jackets are running large these days. the jacket is really lightweight, but I have never worn a medium in their jackets up til now. I am 5'9', 175 with an athletic build, and the medium fits great EXCEPT it is a bit on the short side It sits just below my waistline like a soft shell, so I am going to opt for the Guides Down Hoody in medium because it has a bit longer length (bought that elsewhere since STP didn't have any). With the large, I had a tshirt and fleece pullover on, and I still had tons of room in the chest. and waist. I'm not sure why they are cutting their winter jackets like this now because they have more than enough room to layer, unless it's because America is getting fatter on average.
