Awesome jacket, but two versions exist.

...there are two versions of this jacket and they are very different. The Product Description describes the features of the new version. I received both, and the (old) version with hood adjustments (as good as the Marmot ROM) and Velcro cuffs is a more substantial jacket. The hood is oddly bulky when it just hangs, but when on it is completely adjustable and extremely warm. The jacket also zips up higher on the neck than the elastic (new) hooded version. The old version has Thermal R insulation; the new has Polartec Black and a thinner shell material. The old doesn't have a DWR finish; the new does. The old has a slightly longer torso than the new. The new version is much lighter and compacts down about 30% more. The hood on the new sloshed around on my head, but was much lighter. Regarding fit, I'm 5-7, 162, 39 chest and ordered a medium. The old version is about a half inch looser in the chest area than the new version and most other Marmot jackets. Armholes are also slightly bigger in the old version, making it easier to wear thicker layers underneath. Unless you're going to use for hiking, the old version is much more substantial in weight and warmth. The new version is still very warm, much lighter and could extend its usefulness into cooler spring temperatures. One final note, I originally ordered the black color on the website which shows the new version but I received the old version so beware.
