I also did a LOT of research before buying this jacket. I am about 5 foot 7 and weight about 140lbs and I have a thin frame but I do have some hips. I bought the medium and I love it because I have a little room for layering. But the small would have also fit if I didn't have to layer. The large would have been too big. I can see how some people say that the sleeves are too short. They are actually the perfect length when your arms are straight down or slightly bent in your pockets. But if you raise your arms or put them straight out, the sleeves do pull back about an inch shorter than is comfortable. But I've worn it a number of times in cold, windy, and drizzly weather ranging from 25-45 degree weather and I've been completely comfortable. I LOVE the wind and water resistance. What good is a warm down coat if it gets wet and takes away the loft? I love the zippered pockets, but my absolute favorite feature is the warm collar around my neck even when the hood is not up. And the hood really is very warm. The coat is easy to walk in even though it hits above my knees. The only thing I would like to see improved are the fleece cuffs inside the sleeves. That's the only thing about the North Face Tremaya jacket that I liked better, the cuffs. But who could compare 650 loft vs. 550? I went with the Marmot Chelsea Down coat and I don't have any regrets.
