I purchased a Marmot Freya Down Jacket 700 Fill Power for my wife for Christmas, upon viewing this jacket it was inferior, meaning that a lot of black feathers showed through the Rose color making for a very bad look.

I returned it for a Purple Mamot Highland Down Jacket 700 Fill Power, and it is... Read More

I've been a mountain sports enthusiast for almost 50 years and have worn a lot of down jackets. This one is my new favorite. It's light, simple, fits well, washes well, feels fabulous (silky), and the quality of the down is excellent (plus it's water resistant down so it stays fluffy in damp weather). I'd buy it again in a flash, but the one I have looks like it'll last a long time, so there's no need. However, I did scout around to see if it's available in any colors that appeal to me (mine's black), but couldn't find any in my size w/color I like.

The design is EXACTLY perfect. Just the details you want and need, and no extraneous doo-dads. The inside pocket is great. The zippers work perfectly. I love the simplicity of it. A dream come true. Hope they don't discontinue it!

I was hoping the first one of these that popped a hole in the seam right away was just a fluke. No, it's the jacket. I bought my boyfriend the "men's" version. He only wore it for less than a few hours total, and feathers are flying out everywhere.
I hope I get a quick refund from STP next time I can take the 1 1/2 hour (each way) drive! I need a jacket. Just, not this one.
Garbage. A total waste of time and money and I'm freezing without a jacket ??

My boyfriend and I both just bought similar Marmot jackets and BOTH have had to be returned. The material is so cheap, the feathers poke holes in the jacket.
The first one we ordered was for me, I was hoping it was just a defective piece, so I returned it for the same jacket. In the meantime, I ordered my boyfriend this jacket, and it was all feathers in less than a few days with very little wear. Just to the car and back.
I now have to go get a refund for my jacket because I KNOW it is defective. This has been a long and difficult ride. I need a jacket. It's January in Vermont!
STP has excellent customer service, but these Marmot jackets are so cheaply made and the return process has been a genuine headache. I hope they refund my money right away so I can get something to replace it all in one long trip to Burlington.

This jacket is well made and I'm sure it will last a long time. Although it is very lightweight, it is very warm.

  • “Does this jacket have ant inside pockets?”
Asked by Barb, skier from Illinois on 11/19/2014 11:08:37 AM
    • I'm not sure what "ant" means. It does have pockets that are fleece lined with zippers. The end of the pull chord is hidden inside the pockets, which is used to cinch the bottom of the coat. Hope that helps.

    • Yes, this jacket has one fairly large (fits your entire hand) zippered pocket on the inside left.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
