Got this as a warm option for cold day outs when I am not particularly active. It is slightly longer than a sweater style down jacket, so the bottom of the jacket comes down to about the middle of my butt. There's a drawstring at the bottom to tightened it up and keep the drafts out. It has a lig... Read More

Great jacket! Good fit for average build guy who's not built like a bean pole. Not overly bulky but plenty warm for Breckenridge winter.

Nice jacket - excellent price, but ran small for my husband. He usually takes a large, but couldn't zipper this jacket. We were able to sent it back with Sierra's excellent return policy, but sadly an XL wasn't available.

This jacket is very warm and of good quality, but has no place outside of the concrete jungle. The highland Down jacket weighs a pound and a half which is at least twice as heavy as most down jackets. The jacket is also very bulky and will not compress and stuff like most down jackets making it take up too much valuable space in a pack. It would be a great camp jacket but the material it is made out of would not hold up well with chores around camp. That leaves this jacket as merely a fashion jacket, left to adventure and explore weekends filled with kid's soccer games and chores around town. No thanks, mine is headed back for a refund.

    • I have never tried that, but balling it up leads to an ~8" ball. Call Marmot. They were very helpful when I called recently about a laundering question.

    • Hi Mike...it does! There's an inside vertical pocket and you can stuff the jacket into it. My husband didn't believe me, but the proof was in the compact little pouch. :)

Occasionally we are able to reorder a product, but closeout items are typically unable to be reordered. We suggest signing up for the My Updates as the best way to monitor incoming products. • I am 5'11" and 180 lbs. I got the large, and wear it over a fleece top. I really like the fit. Sleeves are the right length, and I can zip the collar all the way up. You being slimmer than me may be okay with the medium.

The jacket is very light in weight and comfy, and very warm as well. Well made with a good, smooth operating zipper. I Love it.

    • I didn't buy it for that purpose, but it does pack down to about an 8" ball. I just wore it today in a windy 30 degree afternoon and it was nice and warm. The fleece inside the collar is a nice touch, as it does chafe against your neck. I wear it as a casual winter coat in New England.

    • It feels amazingly light. In fact, when I first pulled it out the of the box, I wondered if it would fluff out and be thick and warm enough. It did, and it is. Super comfy and very warm.

The box it came in is about 12 X 14 X 5, and it could be stuffed smaller.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
