Not for straight body types

So I REALLY wanted to love these pants. They have almost everything right - just enough insulation, not too bulky, nice pockets, not so high that they come up to my ribs. Only one problem...they are not for straight body types. I bought the large based on the sizing chart but was concerned because I'm sometimes M sometimes L. In this case I don't think either would have fit. I will say that they are a GENEROUS large. By that I mean without the tabs pulled in they are HUGE. BUT the tabs allow you to pull in the waist and I can make then fit my waist quite nicely. Problem is that this gives you somewhat of a hefty cinch sack look in the back and it does not take in the hip area. With the waist pulled in the hips look even larger than they were when I first put them on. If they had a M in black I might be tempted to exchange them to see if the M fit both waist and hip. But without that I may need to send them back. So...if you are straight figured with little difference between your waist and hip these may not be the right pants for you. If you have a bit of a curve, these are fantastic pants. And I didn't find them extremely long like some reviewers. I am only 5'2" and while they were a bit long, with boots they'd be fine.
