“Don't laugh. I'm deciding between this and a more fleecy thick kind of jacket. It's for my son at college at a cold northeast school in winter. We are from a cold northeast place and he never wears more than a fleece but walking around a college campus will be different than in and out of a car all day. Is this warm wnough? And my silly question is whether it will make a swishy sound with each arm swing. What do you think? Thanks. ”
I bought this jacket for backpacking earlier this spring. Backpacking the Upper Peninsula of Michigan the first week of May, temps were anywhere from 40-60 during the day and this jacket with a shirt was more than warm enough. I loved it so much, I bought another for regular use. I wear it regularly during wisconsign winters walking my dogs; I've stayed completely comfortable in temps as low as 25. Definitely for being active, standing or sitting in the cold and it'seems more like a spring/fall coat, temps 40-50. There is absolutely no swooshing sound, it is very quiet.
