I had this jacket in a smaller size, but gained some weight, and I was really excited to see on STP for such a good deal. It's very warm and puffy, much like Marmot's awesome sleeping bags! The fleece cuffs also are nice for keeping the cold from creeping up your arms. What's best is the jacket's... Read More

I liked the coat. However, I had to return it because the sizing on the Marmot coat was not as expected. Their L was actually a M.

Have been looking for a cozy coat for cold winter days to wear over dress/tights which was not too bulky or boxy. I opted for the neutral slate gray color as I plan on keeping the coat for a long time, and want the color to go with everything I wear and not look dated after a few years. The fit on this coat is perfect - I am 5'1" and 116 lbs so I ordered a small - sleeves were not too long for my petite stature, there is room to wear a sweater underneath, and the coat has a nice cut to keep it looking feminine and not boxy, even with the generous down fill. I have not yet had the chance to wear it out in the elements, as it's been a mostly warm, sunny autumn in the Pacific Northwest, but winter is just around the corner and I'm looking forward to testing it out!

I'm 5'7", 170 lbs. and purchased this coat in black, size L. It fits extremely well (sleeves are long enough, materials are soft and warm) and provides a lovey shape, with room to spare for an additional layer underneath. The coat is long enough to cover my rear, and the hood extends far enough down my forehead that I won't constantly be having to pull it forward for warmth. I am so excited about this purchase!

I love this coat. The length is long enough to cover your bum for those cold winters and I have to say the down fill is super warm. The hood is pretty roomy too almost too big. I have worn it to several fall football games in MT where it was in the 30s and kept very warm. It is a bit of a snugger fit as some of the other reviews suggest so if you dont like the fitted feel i would size up.

I'm actually looking forward to cold weather so I can try out this coat. I usually wear a medium too and ordered the large based on other's reviews. The large fits perfect with room for a sweater underneath. Love the little bit longer length. I had the same winter coat for about 10 years so this is a nice treat!

  • “I wear a women's medium, should I order one size up? Does this parka run small?”
Asked by Fastech from Washington on 12/16/2016 8:16:45 PM
    • My wife loves this jacket! She said it is a tad snug (hers is a medium) but she feels its made to fit that way and keeps her warmer. If you like a more loose fitting jacket and you intend to wear bulky clothes under it, you may want to upsize. She's worn medium bulk sweaters, etc with the jacket and still feels comfortable. Good luck!

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
