Verified Buyer Reviewed by ScottM from Oregon on Monday, May 8, 2017Nice pack for the money. I bought it for my morning cycling commute. It has all the features you'd expect from a pack like this and is durable. There is a bit of a fold over the zipper on the main compartment, which makes it a little tougher to open and close it, but not so bad that I wouldn't keep the pack.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Koz from LA on Monday, April 3, 2017It's a useful daypack, well constructed with lots of pockets!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Stevens Trail Dave from California on Tuesday, March 21, 2017Bought this to carry my laptop to work and have been using it for weekend adventures too. So far, feels well made and sturdy and carries small loads well. This summer I may use it as a crag pack for climbing.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by train rider from NYC on Tuesday, January 26, 2016Good layout, a little top heavy when trowing it over one shoulder (it tends to want to swing off of your shoulder compared to a pack with a lower load). holds a lot and very well thought out. Would have given another star but I've only had it for 3 weeks of city commuting so I can speak to the durability. Happy so far.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jack from New Jersey on Friday, November 13, 2015This bag seems of high quality and meets my expectations. I only wish it stood up when being set down.

“Is this pack large and strong enough to carry 2 pairs of hiking shoes, socks, a first aid kit, maps, and 2 liters of water?”
Shoes, yes, 2 pair of boots? That would be tight. This pack is more geared towards 'city' or school use (laptop sleeve, lots of little storage spaces for school supplies and such). It is adequate as a day hiking pack though. I use it on my biking commute for extra clothes and stuff and it's great for that.
I would think no problem. That of course would depend on the size of the hiking shoes and size of your first aid kit. We carried 2 liters of water plus 2 sweaters and several lunches in it for a long Pinnacles National Park hike in March but it was pretty full in the main compartment. The larger of the pockets would fit a standard sized first aid kit. It holds enough that I'm planning on taking it as a summit pack on Mount Shasta this summer.
This is a fairly well made bag, but how many of an item it can hold all depends on the size of the shoes and such.
“Is this day pack made of a durable material. Will it hold up to actual hiking or is it a school book bag?”
This item is well made. It should hold up for hiking.
