Great tent if you don't mind the weight!

Great tent that is well made of high quality materials, easy to set up, roomy, and will hold up in rain and heavy snow, and wind, but it, and this is a big but for me, it is also super heavy. Mine weighes in at 8 lbs 15 oz, and an additional 14 oz for the Marmot Thor 2 footprint, which makes it just shy of 10 pounds! That's heavy even for a winter backpacking tent. With all the additional winter gear anyway, such as snow shoes, a heavier bag, clothes, pad, etc., this one just adds so much more. As some have mentioned, it's great if you split the weight between two people, but just too heavy for one if you pack in any distance. As a base camp or car camping it is great. Granted this tent will hold up to anything that's thrown at it, and will last a long time because it is so stout. It is the same tent as the Marmot Thor 2, which I confirmed with Marmot, and you will have to find a footprint for another $45 to $55. I have several tents, another winter one at 6 lbs 2 oz, and I really love this one, but think twice if this will be your only winter one because it's heavy and bulky!
