I love my new jacket! It's very warm, lightweight, and packable. The fabric has a nice, low gloss sheen unlike others that are very shiny. DWR fabric finish and the down is similarly treated to resist moisture and maintain its loft. I have long arms and the sleeves on this jacket fit me well. I also... Read More

I have been looking for a light weight Spring jacket. They ran about $200 full price and about @120 at the outlet stores. Get this one for $70. Tried it on a warm winter day (50F) and worked well.

I'll be returning this jacket. The cut is too relaxed for my liking. I'm 5'9" and 175 and the medium to a bit too loose and the arms a bit too long.

Quality and feel of the jacket is very nice, no complaints there. My issue was with the fit. I am 6'0" and 175lbs, I typically wear a medium in everything. This jacket in medium fit well in the shoulders and arms but it was too boxy in the body. Way too much room in the body of the jacket and the sleeves were oversized as well.

I tried this jacket, the Mountain Hardwear Dynotherm and the Patagonia Down Sweater. The Mountain Hardwear jacket was also too large in the body in the Medium and too short in the sleeves and body in the small. The Patagonia was a much better fit all around and is the jacket I ended up with.

I got this jacket and immediately when I went to hang it on a hook the hook loop wripped off - so this made me apprehensive about the jacket construction in general so I returned it. Also the color I ordered was more construction worker yellow neon than lime green.

  • “Is this jacket windproof
    ? ”
Asked by Richard from VIRGINIA on 1/15/2016 1:03:18 AM
    • In a significant wind it may not be totally windproof as I've noticed that when I'm sweaty and the wind is blowing, I'm soon dry but still warm once the terrain flattens or heads downhill. I will confirm it's a great jacket and if strong winds are a factor, wearing a windproof vest underneath is probably a good choice.

    • This has some wind resistance, but is not listed as wind proof.

    • yes. This jacket is great at keeping out wind. My husband reports he never feels drafts, or any cold air seeping in at seams or up his wrists. Every time he wears it he comments on how much he loves it.

    • There is no proprietary windblocking material such as gore windstopper. You would want to wear a shell outside of it if you really needed protection. That said, I don't really feel coldness from wind coming through, even though this is sewn through as opposed to baffled construction. Hope that helps.

    • I don't know if it is the same jacket as the Zeus. I've heard it is and they do look the same. My son has this (Marmot Modi Down) jacket. He is 6'3" and about 140 lbs, so is very thin also. He also has long arms. His down jacket is a medium and the arms are long enough. There is a bit of extra fabric (from my perspective) in the back. He is totally happy with the size and does not think it is excessively roomy. He may be about your size with the extra weight in his height. You can always return if the size is wrong.

    • Not sure about the Zeus jacket. This is my first Marmot coat and it is exceptional! With your size, I'd suggest a small. I'm 6 feet, 178 lbs. and the medium fits me just fine.. Merry Christmas!

    • Yes, this is the exact same jacket as the Zeus, just sold overseas per Marmot. One of the above reviews pointed that out. These jackets run a bit on the larger side for some reason, so go with that.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
