Excellent jacket for moderately cold temperatures (20's/30's)

Atlanta winters are nothing like the northeast or the heartland, but it does get cold and this is a perfect jacket for those temperatures that need something more than a shell and a light sweater. The things I like best about it: 1. It's cut well so you don't look like the Michelin man; 2. It's extremely light; 3. it's a Marmot so I have confidence it will stand up for many seasons; 4. it's just warm enough for those mornings in the 20s walking the dog. 5. Good wind resistance; 6. the down is treated for water repellency so if you're caught in the rain, it shouldn't clump (jury is out on this one, but it' seems to be a good feature). 7. even though it's a somewhat trim fit, there's plenty of range of motion.

Only two real drawbacks: 1. the down is duck down and not goose down and the fill also contains feathers -- 100% goose down would be preferable, but so far, so good; 2. the collar could be a little higher and stiffer for when the wind is howling. For those reasons, I rate it 4 stars instead of 5.

I think the Marmot Zeus is all goose down, but this was such a good deal at Sierra, it's ok to compromise.
