If you want a very warm parka, this is it. I got this for sub-zero temps and it's great. It's hard to tell from photos whether a coat is high loft, and most specs don't tell you how much actual down is in a product, so it can be difficult to get the right coat. I wanted one with a lot of high-quality down fill and didn't care about the weight/bulk. This perfectly fit the bill. The hood is generous and stays in place in high winds. The pockets are lined with cozy stuff. There is a ton of space in inner pockets for hat, mittens, phone, etc. The front pocket zippers are a bit odd because they go up so high, but the pockets are so deep below the zipper that nothing is going to fall out if they're unzipped. I don't know whether it's waterproof, but wouldn't wear this at temps above freezing. It would just be too warm.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
