The Marmot gore-tex pants are well designed and it fit quite well for me. I bought a slightly larger size as I read in the other reviews and that worked out well. This is especially important if you plan to wear another layer under the gore-tex pants. In terms of inseam lengths there are not many op... Read More

I used these for a 7-day snow excursion and they served perfectly as bottom shell layers. I slid down snowy faces on my rump and felt comfortable and protected in these.

Used these on the Inca Trail and they were a great outer layer. Shed water all day without soaking through and were breathable enough that I didn't feel like I was in a sauna. I prefer lightweight rain shells that don't take up much space in my pack, and these fit the bill.

    Have not tested long-term.
However, my fiance' is very happy with these pants. You can tell they are well-made and are a high quality pant. He is usually about a 36" waist and 30" inseam and the Large (waist 34-36) just fit. Not quite enough space for a heavy layer underneath but the length is good and overall they fit comfortably.

This is a great deal especially when I have gone to some...Really Expensive Item stores and seen Arc'teryx rain pants (also Gore-Tex) for nearly 4 times the price and not noticeably better quality.

We will see if they stand up to the test of time (or a trip to Southeast Alaska...) but have always had good experience with Gore-Tex and these definitely seem well done.

Should have listened to the other reviews, but thought they might just be folks that wanted to believe they were still a size medium. Marmot is typically sized for the fit and agile consumer. However, rain pants are normally designed, sized and sold to fit over layers (jeans)! No, not these... I'd be lucky to fit these over my underwear or bike shorts. I'm sure the material is wonderful, but the cut and size border on ridiculous! Good luck!

    • Short answer; i would go with the large - they are made with some room but might be snug in the waist. Long answer; in most cases i think large would be ok but if you think you will go up in size or be wearing them with heavy cold weather pants i would go for the xl. I was between medium and large and went large for the length in the leg and for room for trousers but they are almost too big in the waist but work just fine - Good luck and hope that helps...

    • Definitely not, but can't speak to length on the XL.

    • These pants seem to be true to size. I would try on your regular pants with the under layers you want to wear and see how comfortable that feels. If it is too tight, then I'd go the next bigger size. You certainly don't want to risk splitting out the seams of waterproof pants. That's the worst way to destroy the waterproofing.

  • “What is the inseam length for a size large?”

    • If I remember correctly, Marmot does make these in a "long" and the seam length on their large size is supposed to be 33". That feels about right. I'm 6'2" and the length is pretty good for me.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
