This is a great coat, fits true to size. I am 5'1 120lbs, I can variate between small and medium--especially for a raincoat I could be almost any size due to layering/willingness to have more fitted or wanting this later to go over a puffer/down coat for my chicago climate. this one was a small for... I returned this item for two reasons. 1st, I generally buy XL to have extra room for sweaters underneath. This was a Snug XL if you are endowed. The other reason is the inside felt like wearing plastic.

I'm 5'10", and this jacket is a great length. It is lightweight, pockets are at a good level (some other longer Gore-tex rain coats had very high pockets). Nice hood. The jacket is slightly tapered at the waist. I only wish it had an option to cinch the waist further. I'm thin, and it would be even more flattering with a cinched waist.

The sizing was right on and the construction and material nice. Great weight for summer, spring or fall for layering up or down.

I was fortunate to get the blue, the gray is a very cool bluish gray and not a flattering color, but the coat is great coat anyway. recommend

  • “What is the inside of the jacket like? Any pockets and what is fabric. Why no photos?”
Asked by Pam from Indiana on 7/28/2017 6:15:59 AM
    • I bought it in large, navy but it was huge on me even with a thick fleece on under it so i returned it. I'm 5'4, usually a size 8 but some marmots are sized larger than others, I tried their calin jacket and the medium was very tight in the chest. It is not plasticy feeling or sticky feeling, it's really good but thin gortex fabric. All the seems are taped and it's fabric on the inside but not lined, layers would be needed for warmth on a cold day. I don't remember it having an inside pocket, but I'm not 100% sure. I would have kept it if it was my size. It's versatile and could be worn to work or a formal occasion or with jeans on the weekend.

  • “What's the waterproof rating of this jacket? It doesn't seem to be included in the Specs like the other Gore-Tex jackets on the site. Thanks!”
Asked by KPete from Chicago on 7/16/2017 6:39:21 PM
    • It's made from gortex packlite material, so I'd assume it's the same as the other packlite jackets. Also, I found it to run very big in size.

  • “Does the stormflap close with snaps or Velcro?”
Asked by trvlrsdtra from Missouri on 6/11/2017 8:22:09 AM
    • The stormflap closes with hook and loop.

  • “I'm a 10-12. What size should I get? ”
Asked by Susan from Washington on 6/2/2017 9:43:55 PM
    • If you hover your mouse over or click on the sizes the corresponding numeric size will be displayed. As you are between sizes, you could probably get either. According to our fit team this item is running true to size. If you would prefer it to fit a bit looser, then you would want to size up, if you like it a bit tighter, then size down.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
