Another Marmot WinVerified Buyer Reviewed by Traveler Michele from California on Monday, April 2, 2018I love Marmot, so take this with a grain of salt... But this jacket is fabulous! Fits like a typical Marmot, so when in doubt, size up. If you plant to layer, size up. I normally wear a Small, but always get Medium with Marmot jackets. This is not a lined jacket, so a medium gives me room for a down liner or a polar fleece underneath. The jacket has pit zips, a BIG hood, generous hand pockets, an inside "security" pocket (big enough for a passport), and a small pocket in the sleeve - for a cell phone?
The (purple) color is gorgeous - deep, rich purple.
You can "zip in" a compatible liner, or do what I do, and just put a down liner jacket under it. This is a Goretex jacket with plenty of extras for $120 (with discount), what more can you ask for?
Nice shellVerified Buyer Reviewed by CCan from San Francisco Peninsula on Tuesday, March 27, 2018It's really nice wish it had more pockets though!
Happy with productVerified Buyer Reviewed by Stephanie from San Francisco on Wednesday, February 21, 2018Quick delivery, exactly what I was hoping for!
Exactly!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Particular from Oregon on Monday, February 19, 2018Tried this coat near Mt. Hood this week. The rain beaded up perfectly, I stayed completely dry on a 3 hr snowshoe hike. And, I didn't overheat or get at all chilled. Couldn't ask for better.
No Angel Wing MovementReviewed by Kkuhl from Omaha on Wednesday, February 14, 2018Nice goretex jacket, but jacket rides up when I lift my arms- I even sized up so I could layer. It still suits my needs, and is a great price so I'm keeping it. I'm 5'2, 135# and ordered a medium.
coatVerified Buyer Reviewed by Bug6 from SC on Wednesday, August 16, 2017I was actually looking for more of a shell so I returned it. It was pretty but too warm for my needs
Nice, but not roomyVerified Buyer Reviewed by waf from Boston on Wednesday, May 10, 2017I bought this mostly for biking and rainy days as a replacement for an old Marmot shell that had become worn out and covered in bike grease. This is nicely made, warm and keeps me totally dry. I'm a little disappointed by the extent of the tight fit. I'm 5'8" and around 135lbs. I wear a medium in just about everything, including my older Marmot. I bought this is a medium and though it fits, the cut makes it feel constricting. Because of this, the rain coverage is minimal. It's fairly short, so there's no protection below the waist. Unlike my old jacket, this is not longer in the back and so doesn't protect your rump when you sit or bike. Though the sleeves go to my wrist, if I stretch my arms (i.e., reach out to the handlebars on my bike), the sleeves ride up a little. I was on the fence about whether to keep it or return. I decided to keep because I just couldn't find anything else in this price range that wasn't too light weight. I'm glad I did keep it, and I do like it, I just wish it were a little longer at the bottom and in the sleeves. I also wish their were one more inside pocket (this has two outside and one inside). If you're accustomed to a short, slim fit, you'll probably love this. I think it might just take me some to to get used to, as it's a different fit from the once I'm replacing. The cut, however, keeps me from giving it a full 5 stars.
Very Nice Jacket - ReturnedVerified Buyer Reviewed by City Girl from California on Tuesday, March 21, 2017Very well made and attractive shell jacket. With a zippin layer this jacket would take you through very cold/wet weather. I ordered the Large and found the shoulders way too snug, so I returned it.
Excellent for keeping warm and dryVerified Buyer Reviewed by PenEWise from Oregon on Friday, February 24, 2017I'm 5'4" and weigh 115, chose a Medium for extra layering room and a little extra length. Good in the downpours we've been having in the Pacific Northwest. Fits comfortably over a hooded down jacket; the rain hood is easy to adjust and keeps water off my face. One minor disappointment: I prefer a 2-way front zipper. All the zippers and front placket are good at keeping water out. I expect to keep wearing this for many seasons.
love itVerified Buyer Reviewed by Jumpin Juniper from Colorado on Sunday, February 19, 2017I bought this to replace an old Goretex rain jacket. have not used it yet, but it is high quality and am confident it will keep me dry,
Question & Answer
Questions about this product? Get answers from community and staff experts.
“This jacket in the Celtic/deep teal (two tone) is showing up as more green on this site, but when I look at the jacket on the Marmot site it looks like a light blue. It looks like a totally different color!. Is this jacket more green or blue?”
To my eye it looks to be a pretty true teal.
“Is the lining of this jacket comfortable? I have a shell that is packable but not comfy next to the skin. Also, it sounds rather heavy. Could you easily tie it around the waist if the weather warms? It doesn't need to be packable, just not real cumbersome. Thanks!”
The inside of the jacket is not bad in my opinion.
According to information listed under the product Specs tab: Weight: 1 lb. 11 oz.
“Where can the lining be found?”
Currently we have no liners that are zip in compatible with this jacket. You could check with Marmot.com.
“Will any of marmots fleece fit zip into this jacket?”
“Is this rain coat covering the hips? Does it have a regular nice hood or only the kind that rolls up in the collar which I don't like at all.|Is it free of Nylon and Polyester?|Does it have a zip out liner for warmer seasons?||Thanks in advance,||Chrissie”
The Marmot Palisades Gore-Tex® Performance Shell Jacket is 28" long which should cover the hips, it has a removable three piece hood. The fabric is 100% polyester and does not have a zip out liner.
“Would you please tell me what kind of lining the Marmot Palisades Gore-Tex Performance Shell Jacket is made of (polyester??)...... and if it is a solid stitched-in the seams fabric verses the stretched-hole polyester type.|Also does it have velcro in the outside flap or snaps to keep it closed.|Thank you......Susie”
