Backpacker rain gear

I purchased the PreCip jacket and the pants. Both are lightweight, waterproof rain gear excellent weight for backpacking, It's waterproof rating of 15,000mm waterproof rating means the garment can withstand 15,000mm of rainfall in a single day without letting moisture in (this is equivalent to about 590 inches of rain in 24 hours).

I purchased a size large for my son who is 6' 165 lbs. He would have normally been a medium around the chest but since he is still growing and has a long torso the large also fits fine. He has room for a heavy fleece underneath to expand the jacket's seasonal usefulness.

Being so light weight there is no inner liner which could shorten the life of the waterproofing if the inside of the garment experience a significant amount of abrasion. However for the price about $49 (coupon) you can not beat this $/performance level.

As with any performance wear, you must be mindful of how the items are washed. Follow the directions and use the correct soap and dry under the correct conditions. Not doing so could account for the negative reviews I've seen here.
