Thin 100 Polartec fits well
Thin under a softshell extends the soft shell to much colder
Or under rain gear to form a layer against dampness and condensation
Not warm enough as a standalone

My husband loves this fleece. Needless to say, it is of great quality and fits beautifully, just like any other Marmot jackets.

I got this for my husband as a gift and he loves the fit and feel of it. Usually, when I want layers and jackets, I go for Marmot because it's a brand I trust and this one does not disappoint in quality and style.

I specifically bought this to layer underneath a synthetic jacket and a soft shell. It adds just enough extra warmth without a huge weight penalty. Frankly, it's a very simple Polartec 100 fleece and I wouldn't pay full retail price for it. 100 weight fleece is pretty cheap and easy to find if you don't care about the name on the label. STP's price on this Marmot was much closer to actual value than retail, so I went ahead and grabbed it.

As a sublayer, I specifically bought a large knowing that Marmot L tends to be a little tight on me (6' 2'', 195). Marmot XL (regular fit), on the other hand, is usually a little big. I save Marmot XLs for outer layers.

I already have the Reactor Hoody and love it. The Reactor jacket is a great fleece - very light, soft, breathable and warm. Love the elastic cuffs and wind blocking panels on the neck. Fit is snug but not too tight. Like many fleece jackets, it clings to cotton and long sleeve shirts. Material is stretchy so it feels unobtrusive. Great go-to fleece in the warmer seasons when a chill arrives, or as a layer under a rain jacket for comfort. Lichen green color is a bit muted in vibrancy, but a great complimentary color for my many blue and black marmot shells and vests. Alone, it's nice and colorful, but a little Kermit-y.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
