Reviewed by Daily hiker on state park trails- also some less maintained trails from NW Georgia on Tuesday, June 4, 2013These pants are great for hiking and keeping your legs free from scrapes or scratches from trail foliage.
The water repellency works great, medium to lightweight material is good in spring, summer or fall.
Size runs slightly larger than the norm (something I find with a lot of marmot brand clothes) so order 1/2 to one size smaller than what you normally wear.
These pants will last forever!! I absolutely love these pants- and all marmot clothes are very good quality!!
I also love the marmot rock star pants for lighter weight summer hiking.
Reviewed by Strathmore from Lake Placid, NY on Wednesday, February 27, 2013Really weird cut. Reminds me of jodphurs (the riding pants). Great big waist and hips area, then narrows to a normal fit. Cannot imagine that more than a very few women would have the right shape to wear these.|Disappointed. I am out a total of $16 in shipping with nothing to show for it.

Reviewed by T.J. from Los Angeles on Friday, February 15, 2013OK ladies. A guys' perspective on these pants as I bought them for my friend after doing a ton of research and owning some Marmot soft shells of my own.
If you haven't yet worn soft shell pants while hiking I highly suggest you give them a try. I won't hike with anything but and now; neither will my friend.
The Screes vary a bit from the Rockstars, also available on STP at a RIDICULOUSLY low price in that they have a touch of insulation. While these won't function on their own in cold temps, you'll be comfortable and dry in the 40's and above.
They are low profile, which means a slim fit, but the four way stretch is outstanding. My friend says she likes the slight feeling of compression but her movement is never compromised. And with my similar low profile Marmot soft shells, I've had no problem with a midweight or even expedition weight base layer under them.
While not considered waterproof they effectively shed light rain and snow and the waistband has a nice stretch. The zippered leg is a nice touch too and they can be cinched up if you want a little air on your lower legs.
And if you're thinking about pulling the trigger you won't find a better price anywhere than STP.
Oh...and as a guy I'll give a big thumbs up on the look. NOTHING beats a woman on the trail with some good fitting soft shells. :)
Reviewed by Spider monkey from Jackson, WY on Monday, February 11, 2013The only reason I'm returning these pants is that they are a fitted style, which means that I can't wear layers under them. Not being able to wear layers with these pants greatly limits how much i'd be able to wear them here in Wyoming - it's just too cold most of the winter. Other than that, they fit well on slim frames (order a size larger than you normally wear) and are flattering. They sit at the natural waistline and have zippers and cinchers at the ankles.
