I love this jacket. It will be great for hiking, camping, wearing to work and just plain great to have on hand in the car in case of the unexpected shower. Lightweight but also great for layering. The color is fresh and fun, I got the fern. I've worn it once so far and gotten many complements.

The jacket is great, the material is made out of high quality waterproof material that you can tell will last for years. The color "Blue Sea" is a beautiful deep turquoise blue, almost jewel tone. The only thing that doesn't make this a 5/5 for me is the fit. The fit isn't horrible, but it could contour a woman's body more. The waist area could be more cinched in, and the arms of the jacket could also be taken in more for a slimmer look. TNF jackets are a perfect fit for me, but the quality isn't as top notch as Marmot.

I love this jacket. Bought as a replacement for a beloved, but wearing out, Land's End rainjacket, it fits long torsos better than short ones. The collar is stiff, but with the fleece lining I actually really like it- keeps the face warm. The material is completely waterproof. Water beads up on it as though it were a leaf. The hood is, to me, a little big, but the front is stiff enough that it doesn't droop and annoy. It's warm without causing overheating and is great for biking. Also folds up small. These things matter a lot when you live in a place that gets 46 inches of rain in an average year.

I didn't realize when ordering this jacket that the collar was very stiff and would not lay down. The DriClime material around the collar however is very soft and comfortable. Not what I expected, but I adjusted quickly to the look. ALSO, the hood doesn't provide enough coverage over my face for my tastes when I have my hair in a ponytail. I would need to wear a hat to keep water out of my face, but I went to the local Dick's Sporting Goods to try on the Marmot Precip before placing another order and returning this item, and found I had the same problem with the hood even with a size up. Maybe I have an abnormally large head for a female? I think not, but maybe.

The good: this jacket is EXTREMELY breathable! I was actually disappointed about that on a cold day when I tried to wear it like one of my other rain jackets, which actually traps in too much heat/moisture, and then found this jacket keeps you nice and cool--too cool in the cold haha. This would be amazing for summer hiking. The weight on the jacket at 14oz is a little heavier than I prefer for a backpacking jacket, but it feels great on, is also truly waterproof and doesn't trap moisture in the jacket. You will need to layer on colder days because of the extremely breathable fabric, so make sure you order sizing accordingly.

I am 5'3 and 112bs, I ordered extra small and it fits very well with room to layer underneath. Check out pictures. The jacket covers my bum in the back while still looking cute and stylish. This jacket would make a great hiking jacket or just wear around town rain jacket. My main gripe is the hood coverage. I just don't understand it. The jacket may fit your head better though? No one else had this gripe in the reviews, so I think it is just me. With a hat this would be fully functional for heavy heavy rain. I may return the jacket though because of the hood issue.

Color is much prettier than in the picture. I got the blue sea color, and as you can see in the pictures, it's quite attractive. Even if it makes me look pale. I apologize for the goofy look in the hooded picture, It was a personal picture sent to a friend the day I received this jacket in the mail, expressing my disappointment with the hood.

good deal on a nice jacket! i got the XS and its a perfect fit, i only hope it isn't "too perfect" once i have a backpack on. but the sleeve length is good and the hood stays put, and so far its kept me nice and dry - no problems! definitely nice and breathable too. i also love the soft material that is up by where the jacket covers your chin. i am able to fit a base layer and fleece on underneath of it too, which is hopefully enough to keep me warm because i probably couldn't fit much more than that.

This is a very high quality jacket but the design is for a taller person. I am 5'4" and the collar came up so high that it touched my face. Due to the hood being tucked inside it, it was very stiff and uncomfortable. It was roomy in the sleeves but in the hips it was very snug. This caused the excess material to buckle up in the stomach area. Just a poor fit on me but for a taller, slim person it would probably fit nicely.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
