Just spent three days breaking this in at Whitefish. Held up well in a light wind, nothing gets in, and the heat didn't get out. The second day there was a light rain almost all day. Marmot kept me dry, I was impressed considering the coat has insulation, I thought it would for sure get damp at some point. It didn't. The taped seams kept me dry as bone. I haven't had a hand to run it on a really cold day, but layered up I'm sure it will work great. Honestly, right now I think I just found the last ski jacket I'll ever need.

Not a ton of features on this jacket but it is warm and waterproof for those cold wet days. I have always liked the fit of Marmot being 5'11" 190lbs with broad shoulders. This jacket is on the roomier side but don't mind when I am skiing. Had it up in Canada at -10F/-20F w/wind and was plenty warm with a layer under it. I would wait for a solid discount or sale on this one. The outer material is nothing special and might have some durability issues. Lightweight, warm, and great looking colors!

Some other jackets in this price point include pit zips and wrist gators, this does not, but I settled on it because it has a roomy hood that fits my POC helmet. I am 6'0, 185lbs and the Large is roomy, but I think the Medium would be too small. I previously had a Marmot Wildcat shell and like the brand.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
