As usual Merrell delivers. Shoe keeps my feet dry. It's a little bit hot all goretex shoes are because they are sealed. The only thing that could be better is if the insole was removable. The goretex is probably in the insole so that's why it is not. Would be really nice if the goretex was sealed b... Read More

Lightweight, little or no breaking in, comfy.

I bought these for my wife who has had trouble with ankle high hiking boots rubbing on her ankle bones. They were comfortable right out of the box with no break in needed. The shoes did start to let water in after a couple hours on a rainy hike.
So, waterproof they are not, but pretty water resistant. For this I give them a 4 instead of a 5.

I was skeptical of other reviews that said the shoes fit great right out of the box, but it was really true of these shoes. I put them on and went for a 2 mile walk to "break them in." They felt super comfortable with no rubbing in the toe or heel and great arch support. No breaking in needed!

I loved the overall construction and look of these shoes, but ran into a huge issue after wearing them. The grommets are metal, and are anchored between the two layers of material that make up the top of the shoe. Every step I took caused the metal to push into the top of my foot, where the shoe naturally creases as I walked. I tried thicker socks, but decided it was too big an issue to risk keeping them for a major hiking trip. I ended up sending them back. I had read the reviews before buying, and no one mentioned this problem, so it could just be my foot, but I do not have issues in general, and do not have a high instep...

  • “Can you please advise: does mesh part of shoe is waterproof, or only leather part of shoe is waterproof. Are only more dark grey parts in toe box and in the back are made from leather and more light parts are not? Thanks!”

About Merrell

The story of Merrell boots all started with a guy named Randy Merrell, who began handcrafting leather hiking boots back in 1981, shortly after graduating from industrial shoemaking school. By the mid-80s, Randy’s boots had already gained critical acclaim before being named “best boots in the world” by Backpacker Magazine. The next decade saw the arrival of new footwear, including the ever-popular Jungle Moc, which helped launch the after-sport category. Today, Merrell hiking boots, running shoes and sneakers are still among the best on the market, always combining the newest technology, innovative designs and outstanding comfort. Whether you hike, run, walk or just appreciate high-quality shoes and boots, we’re confident that you’ll love Merrell shoes.
