Also makes an excellent hiker

I'm a big fan of Merrell Low and No-Drop shoes. These have a small drop of 6mm, which keeps your foot closer to a natural position (which isn't perfect for sprinting, but ideal for everything else). I use the All Out Charge for hiking, because of its wide stable base. Road running in these is a little too flat, but they're extremely solid on uneven or rocky terrain. I love the fit (not too tight, plenty of room in the toe box for my wide forefoot and long big toe). Very solid shoe.
