This is my third pair of Merrell barefoot shoes and they are my personal favorite. Do be warned that I consider the least minimalist of the three shoes I own. The Gore-tex is somewhat stiff and the soles seem thicker, so if you are in love with the true barefoot, maybe these aren't for you. For m... Read More

THese were bought for my husband who is a swim coach. He needed a pair of shoes that were comfortable and waterproof on the deck. He says they are fabulous for both functions. These are a winner!

These shoes are nice because they are lightweight, comfortable and waterproof. These are not as good a "barefoot" shoe as some of the other merrell offerings. The sole feels a little thicker and less flexible. But, the waterproof quality is worth a lot to me. I am glad to have these shoes but if it is not wet I will probably wear my other merrells.

These shoes are a wonderful everyday shoe that feels like a slipper. Additionally, they are excellent running shoes. The no rise makes it feel as if I am almost walking barefooted.

Wore these while hiking for a couple hours on a rainy cool day--my feet stayed dry even when I deliberatly emersed them in puddles. But if you're looking for that moccasin-like barefoot feel, these might not be for you. The bottoms are very stiff. This bothered me less after the first couple miles, and I expect they'll soften up some with wear. A bigger issue is traction--they slipped on moderatly steep sandstone. On regular dirt trails they were fine, but not for any off-trail use. With the dearth of waterproof minimalist shoes out there, I'm glad to have foumd these--also glad I didnt have to pay the exorbatant full retail price.

I've only had them out for one run before STP hit me up for a review. I wore the shoes for a five mile run that included 1 mile on the beach. The uppers are a bit stiff. The tread and sole design performed poorly in the sand. They sink in rather than floating on top like a traditional running shoe sole. I got a blister from my foot moving around inside the shoe with the uneven footing on the beach.

About Merrell

The story of Merrell boots all started with a guy named Randy Merrell, who began handcrafting leather hiking boots back in 1981, shortly after graduating from industrial shoemaking school. By the mid-80s, Randy’s boots had already gained critical acclaim before being named “best boots in the world” by Backpacker Magazine. The next decade saw the arrival of new footwear, including the ever-popular Jungle Moc, which helped launch the after-sport category. Today, Merrell hiking boots, running shoes and sneakers are still among the best on the market, always combining the newest technology, innovative designs and outstanding comfort. Whether you hike, run, walk or just appreciate high-quality shoes and boots, we’re confident that you’ll love Merrell shoes.
