Painful fit, more painful return process

As soon as I put this pair on, I knew they wouldn't work. I had a previous version (slightly different style of this boot) but the fit of this one is very different and much more narrow. So, I began the return process. With Amazon or Zappos or many other online retailers, they've realized that making this process quick and efficient and easy is a way to win over customers. Apparently, that note hasn't reached Sierra Trading Post. First, I had to fill out the paperwork online (pretty standard), but immediately found out that a straight return (not an exchange) would end up putting me out of pocket by over $10. But I knew I'd rather go this route. A trip to UPS store revealed the bags they sell don't fit the shoe box they came in, so another $10 would have to be spent. A drive home and through the basement discovered an appropriate sized box and back to the UPS store (and the $1 charge for taping it??) and product sent off. Another trip to the STP website a few days later to check on status of shipment and it had been received but still had to go through process again of stating i wanted the refund, not the credit. I am told the credit will take 2-3 billing cycles to show up on my statement. Wow. They seemed to take my money immediately, so I'm confused. All in all, NEVER again with Sierra Trading Post. I love to find Amazon alternatives, but this will not be one.
