What is not to like?
Reviewed by Debbie W. from Phila, PA on Monday, January 2, 2017These were comfortable right out of the box. Great, firm mid sole without being uncomfortable. I intend to use these as light hikers and want the firmness for rocky trails. Haven't had a chance to test them in that regard, but will do so on a trip in February and will update review then, if needed.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Blondie from the Finger Lakes from Honeoye Falls, NY on Wednesday, October 19, 2016I am enjoying these hiking shoes. However, they run narrow so I am reluctant to actually go on a hike with them. Since they run narrow, they aggravate my neuromas. I will use them for everyday wear, walking.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Susan W from Upstate New York on Thursday, September 22, 2016Walking the dog, or walking for fitness and sanity - I have to say my feet have stayed nice and dry when walking through tall wet grass and the occasional mud puddle. I like that alot. I've had other shoes that say they are waterproof but water has still seeped in around the seams or the tongue (I think that's what it's called). Too bad these are closeouts because they are good fitting for my cranky feet, good arch support for my sagging, aged arches and they look good. The only surprise is that the shoe laces seems a bit puny. But, it is still early in their use, so maybe they will last a long time. Overall, I love these Merrells and will continue to buy more when these are worn out. Hope that doesn't sound too much like I'm just hyping them, because I'm not. I'm an average buyer with some specific things I look for in my shoes. These measure up.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Hiking with dogs from Colorado on Tuesday, July 26, 2016I just wore these on a short mountain hike at Elk Meadow dog park over the weekend. I felt very steady on any terrain. They were quite comfortable for brand new hiking shoes. I do think I might look at some gel inserts for more cushion, but otherwise great shoes for the discounted price.
Reviewed by Outdoors please from OK on Friday, July 15, 2016Overall look of the shoe is good. The shoe felt extremely stiff. I am a fan of the chameleon style and I think I will stick to it. This is my first experience with a Gore-Tex shoe, so I am unsure if that contributes to the overall rigidity of the shoe. The chameleon feels more supportive in the insole, in my opinion. If you are looking for a super rigid shoe, choose the Capra. I am still a fan of Merrell and STP!

“Are these good canyoneering shoes? I will be hiking the Narrows in Zion National Park this summer.”
Just my opinion, but I think any waterproof shoe in the summer is going to make your feet feel hotter. Personally, I might wear something more breathable. But if I knew for sure I'd be walking through water, I'd wear these. If you like this shoe and are going to be hiking in varied terrain, you might want to look at their hiking boot. Looks just like these low cut shoes, but offers more ankle support. Have fun! Zion is gorgeous. Love the Tunnel (no bikes or pedestrians allowed, you have to drive through).
Hmmm. The soles are stiff. They are well ventilated. The grip on the petrified dunes I have been hiking this week was very good. Worth a try. Maybe the mid-height would be better.
