Best boots I have ever owned. Have traveled in my first pair for years as they are the most comfortable footwear I own, and they look great with most anything. I bought this second pair because the sale price was good and I wanted a backup for when my first pair finally wears out (although I've had ... Read More

I went and tried on a pair for size in a Merrell store & got the right fit before ordering them. They are very comfortable and a good looking boot!

I usually wear either a 6.5 or a 7, so I ordered these boots in a 7, figuring I'd wear thick socks in them. I'm glad I ordered on the larger side, because a 6.5 wouldn't have fit me at all - these will work, but only with regular socks in them. If you want room for thick winter socks, order a half size up. Other than that, they seem great - but I haven't worn them through a Chicago winter yet, so I'll try to update after that...

Warm (when worn with warm socks), water resistant, comfortable, light weight...I really can't say enough good things about these boots. They go effortlessly from work (at an elementary school), to the farm, to town and back! So far, these have made it through three months of consistent Midwest wear and tear, and they look good as new. I ordered my regular size 8, and they fit was just swell -- they fit my calves well, and there is a little give a the top, if that is a concern.

these are great for whatever weather conditions you have. They don't come up as high as I thought they would, about mid way calf height but are cute and comfortable. They could be worn with anything I think., versatile boot.

    • I don't intend to treat the pair I got. The box says they are waterproof, so they are already treated.

    • I do not know if they have a factory treatment. Because I am in an area where they will be getting wet, I will treat them with a waterproof spray.

Asked by Hannah from Washington on 2/27/2014 10:07:54 PM
    • As I recall - I sent them back for reasons of my own - they were a dark grey, but not black. That was part of what I wasn't fond of, that they were not black as they seemed to look in the photo.

    • I would say a dark grey. If I wear them with jeans, they can pass for black, but if I wear them with black pants, they definitely look grey.

    • I wouldn't have bought them if they we're grey. The contrasting strips on the back are grey and the contrast is attractive.
So with that said, the black is definitely not a shiney black, but more muted/matted kinda like they've been worn and dusty.
Very beautiful and comfortable and well worth it at less then 1/2 price from the original!!
      Go for it.

    • Don't know about the drizzle color. I ordered the brown. It was a nice brown with golden cinnamon straps. Very nice. Unfortunately, they seem really long for a size 8 - almost like a size 9 so I have to return.

    • These boots have the word "waterproof" embossed on the side. I think STP has the specs wrong. As far as I can tell Merrell only makes one version of this boot, and it is waterproof.

About Merrell

The story of Merrell boots all started with a guy named Randy Merrell, who began handcrafting leather hiking boots back in 1981, shortly after graduating from industrial shoemaking school. By the mid-80s, Randy’s boots had already gained critical acclaim before being named “best boots in the world” by Backpacker Magazine. The next decade saw the arrival of new footwear, including the ever-popular Jungle Moc, which helped launch the after-sport category. Today, Merrell hiking boots, running shoes and sneakers are still among the best on the market, always combining the newest technology, innovative designs and outstanding comfort. Whether you hike, run, walk or just appreciate high-quality shoes and boots, we’re confident that you’ll love Merrell shoes.
