Verified Buyer Reviewed by C.Smith from Wenatchee on Sunday, September 11, 2016Bought them for my 8 year old for hiking but as of yet I haven't bean able to get her to take them off.
She feels that they go great with dresses and shorts and would wear them to school if I'd let her.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by CEA from WV on Monday, August 8, 2016These boots are awesome! They do run small so order up a size. Excellent quality at a great price!

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Momof5 from South Dakota on Sunday, July 31, 2016Third pair of these for our 3 boys. These shoes wear like iron!! I've been able to pass down smaller sizes to the younger boys and they are still in great condition. They run true to size and are easy to get on.
Reviewed by Hondo from Northern Virginia on Friday, July 8, 2016Time will tell, but the second my 8-year-old put these on his feet, he said, "These are really comfortable". They are international sizing, and it's my sense they run a tad small. For the money, I'm sorry now that I didn't buy a second pair the next size up for when he grows out of his current size. I've owned other Merrell boots, and they are generally quite durable and well-made. I'm sure they'll hold up better than the Deer Stag boots I bought for him here at STP. Those looked like they'd survive a nuclear blast, but within eight months were wearing through in various spots, and BOTH soles separated from the mid-soles, rendering them quite useless. He usually out-grows his boots before he wears them out, but not in the case of the Deer Stags. I'm confident these Merrell's will hold up as well as his present Merrell Hiking Shoes which are doing quite well. Recommended.

I have trouble translating American shoe sizes into European/International, especially children. I would say, when in doubt, get the larger size. The boots fit a little small because the child may not be used to high boots that fit close to the leg. A larger size may feel more comfortable.
