Beyond satisfied with these boots. Went on a 3 hour hike today in 4 to 6 inches of snow and the boots were warm, dry, comfortable, and provided needed traction in slush and icy surfaces. Initial reaction was that the sole had more than desired arch support, but after walking in them for a few hours it seemed to loosen up and was extremely comfortable. The boot is extremely stiff and has zero flex (reminds me of my waterproof motorcycle boots). I am fitted for US 11.5 (wide) but typically go for US 12 when 11.5 (wide) is not available. I ordered size US 12 in these boots and they were surprisingly comfortable - just snug enough not to slip but provided adequate room in the toe area.

These boots work really well for hiking and snowshoeing in cold weather. I've used them in 15-30 degree weather and they're plenty warm - and my hands and feet tend to get cold easily. I'm sure they'd be good down to 0-5 degrees for moderate activity, but probably not for sitting still hunting or ice fishing in those temperatures. What I really like about the boots is they feel very light for the warmth they offer, and they are very comfortable. Sizing is pretty accurate. I usually wear size 11 in shoes. I ordered an 11.5 in these. With heavy socks on they're good. They'd be a little big with thin socks.

The boots felt great out of the box. I did order 1/2 size larger than normal due to what others had said and they fit good. I will say that the 200g fleece seems much warmer than 200g thinsulate. So they may be more of a winter boot and less of a spring/fall boot as I had hoped. Still an over all great boot though. Sorry, I haven't tested them in water yet.

    • I have wide feet and when possible I always order e or dbl e ,it wasn't offered with these but they fit , only problem was is that they run small if your a 10 1/2 you'll probably need an 11 , I ordered my first pair then gave them to a nephew, got a 2nd pair of a different model and same thing , gave them to another nephew, I went with another brand ( kodiac ) nice boot not as good looking as the Merrells but were water proof and insulated at a good price

  • “I own a pair of merrell hiking shoes but am wondering if the sizing is the same. So do these run true to size?”
Asked by Daniel from Utah on 1/9/2016 10:04:27 AM
    • Yes they do run true to size if there is such a thing. I have several merrell she's and boots and they run true to merrell sizing (the same thru out) can not compare to other brands . Some shoes i.e.. Nike run different then say Asics or merrell. Hope . This answered your question

About Merrell

The story of Merrell boots all started with a guy named Randy Merrell, who began handcrafting leather hiking boots back in 1981, shortly after graduating from industrial shoemaking school. By the mid-80s, Randy’s boots had already gained critical acclaim before being named “best boots in the world” by Backpacker Magazine. The next decade saw the arrival of new footwear, including the ever-popular Jungle Moc, which helped launch the after-sport category. Today, Merrell hiking boots, running shoes and sneakers are still among the best on the market, always combining the newest technology, innovative designs and outstanding comfort. Whether you hike, run, walk or just appreciate high-quality shoes and boots, we’re confident that you’ll love Merrell shoes.
