WATERPROOF and GOOD TRACTION

Most women's boots lately employ odd soles with decorative teeth that don't actually bite into the mud/dirt/snow. These were very warm (too warm for 45 degrees actually) but completely waterproof through streams and in a downpour. To break them in, i removed the liners and wore just the boot so my foot snuggled in the furry lining. After a long hike through creeks and over logs with amazing traction, the insoles slid in and were super comfy. Excellent traction over all surfaces (mud, wet rocks, roots, sand, and traversing downed trees) walking the dog. Not tall snow boots, but over the ankle is sufficient most of the winter. much better traction and weather protection than anything else I have for inclement weather. only con, and reason for knocking off the star, there is a niggling seem in the back of the left boot right on my Achilles. i hate how that feels. there also was a bit of a fight to get the laces and tongue to comply, but now they heed my efforts. i would prefer the boot have a little less bulk, but overall a great purchase at the sale price.
